BRIDGE FOR PALS
This similar to a guest book, except
you don't just sign your name when you arrive. You make a note it it when
you leave. It is kept at the front desk and
is always available for ANYONE
to, as often as they like, write a short and simple, happy
comment, delightful observation, meaningful experience or a message for residents
to read at their leisure.
For example:
From a friend
"I had a great time with Harry Smith today.
He is a wonderful person and very interesting to talk to."
From a volunteer visitor
"I visited with Pat Roland today and learned
that he was a chef. He traveled to many countries, cooking grand meals
for dignitaries. I love to talk about about recipes and I learned
a lot from him. "
From a family member
"Mama, Always remember, I love you."
How it is used
It is read by the residents.
As they leaf through it, they can read
what you want them to remember, long after the visiting day is done.
It is a source of entertainment
because as they read it, they can share it with each other.
It serves as a
constant connection to the outside world,
testifying that the staff and visitors enjoy their company.
It proves to them
that they have been successful in their
hosting endeavors.
